P2P crypto trading in Ethiopia
Peer-to-peer (P2P) trading means buying crypto from another person rather than from an exchange's own stock. The marketplace matches you, holds the crypto in escrow, and verifies the Birr payment.
Why P2P in Ethiopia
International exchanges rarely accept Birr. P2P marketplaces let Ethiopians buy and sell USDT using the payment methods they already have, Telebirr and local bank accounts, at a rate set by the market rather than by a middleman.
How escrow works
When an order is placed, the seller's USDT is locked. The buyer pays the seller directly, outside the platform, and submits the proof. The platform verifies the payment against Telebirr or the bank's receipt and only then releases the USDT to the buyer. If anything goes wrong, either side opens a dispute and support decides based on the evidence; the USDT stays locked until then.
Staying safe
- Only trade inside the order: never agree to pay or receive crypto outside it.
- Pay from, and get paid into, accounts in your own name.
- Sellers: never release manually before the money is in your account. Verified payments release automatically anyway.
- Use the order chat so support can see the conversation.
- Install the app only from Collext's own download page.
Fees and limits
A small platform fee comes out of the USDT the buyer receives and is shown before the order is placed. Ads set their own minimum and maximum per order. Withdrawals have a daily limit and a network fee that depends on the chain you withdraw to.
